FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Is the RMP mic pre the same as another RND preamp?

No; because of the remote control design and the highly custom transformer design feeding the converters, the RMP is a unique preamplifier. The harmonic content from the transformer (essentially integrated Silk) is loosely based on Rupert’s mic preamps from the 1970s.

Do I need a dedicated audio interface to use the RMP-D8?

No; you can use Audinate’s Dante Virtual Sound Card application to get the RMP-D8’s signal into a computer. For the best latency performance however, we recommend having a Dante-enabled mixer or using a dedicated Dante / Computer interface to lower the latency for cue mixes when needed.

This playlist includes four setup videos explaining different ways to connect the RMP-D8: as a standalone device, and with interfaces from AVID, Burl, and Universal Audio:

Can I use the RMP-D8 with AVB or Soundgrid?

Yes; you can use AES 67 compatibility mode in Dante controller as a way to bridge between Dante and other AOIP destinations with some limitations. You may also be able to use a hardware bridge. However, the RMP-D8 remote control application will only work over Dante.

I can’t get my RMP-D8 to sync in the remote control app. What do I do?

It is likely the RMP is not on the same subnet mask as the computer.
